Lisa has always been passionate about creating and exploring new means of creativity. Artists Lisa Horkin has bachelors in fine arts painting, from the Columbus College of Art and Design. Pryor to blowing glass, Lisa worked in painted textile mixed media, painting, chalking, and printing various fabrics then reassembling them into one cohesive wall “quilt” or 3-dimensional textile sculpture. She showed regionally via local art organizations such as Ohio Designer Craftsman and internationally as a part of The Art Quilt Network. Not having blown glass since college, Lisa came back to blown glass as a means of creative expression in 2002, creating blown glass vessels. Lisa now looks to use similar combination of pattern and design work as she did with her textiles, exploring the use of layering glass color, carving the vessels, while also playing with sculpted form. Lisa still shows locally with various art groups and has been in several local galleries. She is the recipient of several grants, has been invited in to the glass studio at the Columbus College of Art and Design, as visiting artist in 2013, 2015, and 2017, and also teaches glass blowing, and gives public glass blowing demonstrations at the Ohio Glass Museum in Lancaster, OH and The Franklin Park Conservatory.
