Elaine Kohler is a stained glass mosaic artist from Chicago who is now based in Columbus. She specializes in mosaic furniture, wall art, trinket boxes, and coasters, but loves collaborating with clients on custom orders of all kinds.
Her love for mosaics is simple: they always have flaws. Given the temperamentality of the materials and the messiness of the process, imperfection is inevitable. Knowing that perfection is an impossible illusion helps ease the pressure of an overwhelming world, and gives her permission to surrender to the chaos of artistic creation. Recurring themes in her work include skeletons and other death motifs, nature, and pop culture.
