Born and reared in Lancaster, Ohio, Anne Hart Kiphen began college as a Music Major and Art Minor. After bouncing back and forth between the two, she finally finished with a degree in Art and a minor in Vocal Music. Her music career led her to spend the next 5 years in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. She returned to Lancaster and began teaching Art in the Bloom-Carroll School District, a position she held for 30 years. Retirement brought the need to contribute to the community and thus began her volunteer involvement with the Ohio Glass Museum. She has been there since its opening in 2006 and serves in the capacity as Art Director, planning exhibitions, consulting with collectors, doing historical research, creating signage and visual accessories, as well as installing the exhibitions. She has overseen the presentation of 29 major exhibitions.
Anne has had a lengthy singing career, performing as a soloist, in folk groups, big bands, jazz groups, as well as local choruses and even a women’s barbershop quartet. Covid 19 stopped the music, hopefully temporarily, but allowed her to spend a great deal of time on artwork rather than going to multiple rehearsals and learning music. Anne is married to Myles Kiphen and has two daughters, Jessica Ogle, a decorator with Williams-Sonoma, and singer-songwriter, Sarah Hart. Anne and her husband have 4 grandchildren.
